At key stage 4 students have the opportunity to pick floristry as a work related option. This is accredited by ABC Awards with a qualification in practical floristry skills at Entry Level Award to level 1 certificate. The qualification allows the student to progress further finding their own level of achievement.

The Floristry Department is set up for students to learn practical skills while also learning about business skills. We have a phone line, working till and a beautiful displays of silk and fresh flowers.

The students learn various skills and techniques used throughout the floristry industry, from taking and receiving phone orders, to constructing floral designs/arrangements. These are both formal and informal. Wedding, funeral and gift work are included throughout as this is a big part of the floristry industry along with Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter.

Over the last 10 years the school students have visited Arley Hall Stately Home Cheshire, for the Christmas Floral Extravaganza. This allows the students to see more exotic and unusual varieties of flowers arranged in various mediums.
