The NOCN English Skills qualifications at Aspire College offer a supportive and progressive pathway from Entry Level 2 and Entry Level 3 through to Level 1 English Skills, enabling learners to develop the communication, reading and writing skills essential for everyday life, independent living, further education and future employment. The curriculum is designed to build confidence, functional literacy and the ability to understand and use English purposefully in a range of familiar and practical contexts.

Learners study a structured sequence of units that gradually build skills across writing, reading, speaking and listening. These include foundational units such as Use Writing Skills, Read Texts for Meaning, Take Part in Group Discussion, and Write Using Correct Punctuation, which support the development of core literacy knowledge at Entry levels. Learners progressing through Level 1 complete a similar suite of units mapped to higher competency expectations, including Read and Spell Words for Everyday Life and Work, Use Presentation Skills and Express Opinions and Arguments, and Compare Different Texts, enabling them to explore meaning, structure and audience with increasing confidence.
