Year 12 & 13 Additional English
Additional English assesses the skills of knowledge and understanding of literary texts and the candidates’ ability to read and understand non-fiction and audio/visual texts. Candidates are also given the opportunity to create their own narratives.
Additional English is available as an 8 credit Award or a 13 credit Certificate at Entry 2 and 3 and is assessed purely through internal assessment; there are no examinations for this qualification.
Year 14 Functional Skills
Functional skills assessments are completed by year 14 students. This qualification assesses speaking, listening, communication, reading and writing. It is also suitable for those who wish to apply their English skills to a range of unfamiliar contexts, through discussions, exchanges, texts and through written communication.
Personal Progress Qualification
Personal Progress Qualification includes three main areas for Students to work towards at Entry Level one. This qualification is assessed purely through internal assessment. The areas studied include:
- Developing communication skills
- Developing reading skills
- Developing writing skills
