HOSPITALITY AND CATERING

Hospitality and Catering Pathway

The Hospitality and Catering Pathway is a practical and career-focused programme designed for learners who are interested in working within the fast-paced hospitality, food, and service industries. This pathway is made up of four complementary qualifications: Customer Services, Hospitality, Food Technology, and Barista Skills, providing learners with a broad skill set that supports progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further study. All qualifications are accredited by Open Award and WJEC, ensuring recognised standards and industry relevance.

Customer Services

The Customer Services qualification develops essential employability skills required across the hospitality sector. Learners focus on communication, teamwork, professionalism, and handling customer needs effectively. This element helps build confidence and prepares students for real-world interactions in customer-facing roles.

Hospitality

The Hospitality qualification introduces learners to the structure and operation of the hospitality industry. Students explore front-of-house and back-of-house roles, health and safety, teamwork, and the importance of delivering high-quality service. Practical activities allow learners to understand how hospitality environments operate and the expectations of employers.

Food Technology

Food Technology focuses on food preparation, cooking methods, hygiene, and nutrition. Learners develop practical kitchen skills alongside an understanding of food safety, menu planning, and sustainability. This qualification encourages creativity while reinforcing safe and professional working practices.

Barista Skills

The Barista Skills qualification provides hands-on experience in beverage preparation and service. Learners gain an understanding of coffee production, equipment use, presentation, and customer service within café-style environments, building skills that are highly valued in the hospitality industry.
