Learners access the extended curriculum through after school clubs and this is accessible to all learners. This plays an important role in Oakfield’s educational, social, recreational and cultural life. Clubs include:

Arts and Crafts club
Learners attend weekly after school Dance club to perform at the Wigan Borough Dance Festival throughout the academic year. In Autumn, learners from KS3 and KS4 performed at the Christmas Cracker dance event with schools across the borough.
Learners who were selected by the P.E. department compete in the School Games Cup every academic year. This event is organised by School Games with sports that include: Rock climbing, dodgeball, football, table tennis. Learners who partake I this event have the chance to earn a variety of certificates including:

Teamwork certificate
Learners from across the key stages participated in the School Games Greater Manchester County Games Indoor Rowing Competition.
Learners selected from year 9 participated at a football event at Wigan Athletic football club. Through their fantastic effort and team work they were crowned champions! Oakfield will be hoping to attend this academic year and retain their title.
Learners selected in KS4 participated in a bowling competition with schools across the borough. The learners represented Wigan and Oakfield in the Panathlon’s Secondary School Ten Pin bowling competition at Hollywood Bowl. The learners have qualified to the Greater Manchester finals this year.
