MFL
MFL at Oakfield is taught through a range of topics which are relevant to real life communication. Topics include self, hobbies, pets and Spanish culture, and are taught through music, visual presentations, role plays and speaking and listening. Learners are encouraged to communicate with their peers and adults, and shown the benefits of knowing an additional language. Learners become more aware of language, sounds, smells, tastes, images and artefacts from other countries and cultures by working with materials from these countries. As part of MFL learners become more familiar with the sounds of another language and use a range of methods which develop speaking and listening skills rather than relying on the written word. Learning an additional language, we believe supports learning in other subjects, for example, Citizenship, English or Geography. Learners are consistently developing listening, and social skills through partnership and group work.
