As part of our commitment to holistic development, learners will engage in Core PE, an integral component of our college curriculum.
At College, the PE curriculum is thoughtfully designed around three key areas: Fitness for life, Games for life, and Wellbeing/Outdoor Education. In Fitness for life, learners will embark on a journey to understand and embrace the importance of physical fitness as a lifelong commitment. Games for life introduces the joy of sports and team activities, emphasising the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The Wellbeing/Outdoor Education component encourages learners to connect with nature, promoting mental and emotional well-being.
As a unique feature, learners will have the exciting opportunity to explore local leisure facilities, enhancing their Core PE experience beyond the classroom. This exposure not only broadens their horizons but also instils a sense of community engagement and an appreciation for a healthy, active lifestyle.
Learners who choose to study PE at KS5 as part of their accreditation will undertake the Level 1 Award in BTEC Introduction to Sport. The BTEC Level 1 Introduction to Sport is a specialised curriculum that goes beyond traditional classroom learning. It empowers learners to delve into the multi-layered world of sports, providing a solid foundation in theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This course is not just about playing games; it's about understanding the intricacies of sports science, exploring the impact of physical activity on health, and developing essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication.
Teachers will guide learners through a curriculum that combines classroom instruction with hands-on experiences, ensuring a holistic understanding of the subject matter. The BTEC qualification offers a valuable blend of academic rigor and practical application, equipping learners with the skills and knowledge necessary for further studies or entry into the dynamic field of sports and recreation.
