PRISON ME NO WAY

School and College had the experience of ‘PrisonMeNoWay’ visiting Oakfield. Julie talked to the learners about her role and prison life as part of their PSHE lesson. Julie discussed with the learners what the cells are like in prison and the learners got to experience a real life cell. The cell had bunkbeds, a small TV, a toilet and a sink. Some of the women’s cells even have a shower; however they will only get ten minutes of hot water every six hours. Julie informed us that prisoners do not get to choose their cell mate so it could be absolutely anyone. She also told them that there are about 86,000 prisoners in the UK. She told us some very interesting stories of her time as a Prison Officer.
