This week Oakfield have celebrated British Science Week with lots of different and exciting activities.
Kitchen Chemistry – where learners removed different ingredients from cakes to see what happens, strangely they still all tasted great!
We have taken part in Kitchen Chemistry – removing different ingredients from cakes to see what happens, strangely they still all tasted great! Year 7&8 have been experimenting with different colours and how they change, they have also hunted for Wooly worms and looked at the weather.
Some of the classes have taken part in Penguin watch (https://www.penguinwatch.org/ if you want to have a count yourself.) and Y11’s have made some Picasso inspired art with sticky tape.
But by far the two favourite activities have been the Chocolate Break – testing the fracture point of different chocolate bars (Wispa was the supreme champion) and making Ooblek slime from cornflour and water (advanced apologies for them making it at home!)
All of the learners have really enjoyed the week with Y9’s describing it as ‘FANTASTIC’ and ‘AMAZING’, and Y7’s already planning what they would like to do next year.
